The Rice Karate Club, which was founded in 1968 by Grandmaster Kim Soo, is the longest continuously running club at Rice University. We practice Chayon-Ryu Martial Arts, which is a collection of different martial arts styles.
Reasons for joining:
Weekly classes are taught by black belts trained under Grandmaster Kim, and, as a benefit of membership, Rice students can attend one lesson a week taught by Grandmaster Kim personally (we often arrange carpools). Class sizes are small and the instruction is tailored to each person. Both beginners and experienced students alike are welcome.
